SAVING OUR FRIENDS IN JUNGLE
Save lives, rebuild families, and invest for the future
Primates are our closest relatives in the wild. They share over 98% of DNA with us, and sometimes, they also provide unique insights into human evolution. They also vital ecological functions in the ecosystems they inhabit.
However, Gorillas and Chimps in Africa face immediate threats like illegal bushmeat hunting, deforestation, the pet trade and climate change. As a result, the populations are declining as they continue to be hunted and lose their habitat.
Ape Action Africa is passionate about great ape conservation in Cameroon. Their mission is to address the immediate threats faced by gorillas and chimps in Africa and to work with communities to develop long term solutions to ensure their survival in the wild.
Ape Action Africa rescues orphaned and injured gorillas, chimpanzees, and monkeys, and works around the clock in Cameroon's Mefou primate sanctuary to give them urgent veterinary care and nourishment.
Ape Action Africa operates a thriving education program for local school children, who are encouraged to visit Mefou to see Cameroon's wildlife in its natural environment.
